50 Pros and Cons of ObamaCare

A Picture of Charlotte Gilbert Charlotte Gilbert
04/16/2012

1. ObamaCare was written by the health insurance and drug industry lobbyists.
2. Obamacare has a Review Panel to monitor benfits given to Seniors and what should and should not be allowed regarding health care treatments
3. ObamaCare puts in place new rules that prohibit plans with annual limits.
4. Obamacare puts 15 unelected bureaucrats in charge of meeting a budget target in Medicare with its newly created Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) .
5. Obamacare delivers a strong blow to Medicare Advantage (MA), which allows seniors to receive Medicare benefits from a private health plan of their choosing.
6. ObamaCare expands Medicaid (medical care for the poor) to everyone (under the Medicare age of 65) who has income less than 133% the federal poverty level.
7. ObamaCare will shorten the amount of time Doctors have with each patient, and lengthen the amount of time patients will have to wait.
8. ObamaCare means a two-tier Health Care System.
9. Obamacare attempts to address the challenge of covering people with pre-existing conditions with heavy-handed mandates, especially the requirement that all Americans enroll in government-approved insurance plans (the so-called “individual mandate”).
10. Obamacare is deeply unpopular because it is based on a bureaucratic, government-centered vision of American health care.
11. Obamacare will require us to pay insurers for “preventive care” as defined by government.
12. Obamacare will restrict the ability of insurance companies to consider health risks when setting insurance premiums.
13. Obamacare asserts on Congress’s behalf a power to restrain the liberty of an extremely broad group of Americans, and these Americans have not revealed any tendency to endanger their neighbors as the ex-inmates had in Comstock .
14. Obamacare is at least a step toward the egalitarianism Jesus tried to teach us.
15. Obamacare is probably the first case to ever involve what is arguably a sleeper tax — that is, a tax that isn’t called a tax in the law itself, but may behave like one.
16. Obamacare and the EPA will together revoke and invalidate the US Constitution.
17. Obamacare includes provisions for people who are so bad off they can’t afford a premium.
18. Obamacare failure now evident as health care costs rise nationwide.
19. Obamacare, and its vast catalog of new rules and regulations, does exactly what we don’t need. It makes it impossible for firms to make any reasonable estimate about the costs and the potential profits from investments.
20. Obamacare itself, which has consistently polled badly, fueled that movement.
21. ObamaCare which doesn’t take full effect until 2014 and is far from perfect.
22. ObamaCare is holding your health care hostage and offering no real choice.
23. Obamacare will cause controversy no matter what’s said about it, and is likely to continue as a source of controversy long after the Supreme Court renders its decision this Thursday.
24. Obamacare stymies their efforts with bureaucracy without making any effort to bolster their ranks or their morale.
25. ObamaCare is leaving a comet tail of broken promises as it steamrolls its way through our economy and into our lives.
26. Obamacare instead could be repealed and replaced with far superior reforms…which in fact are the author’s recommendations.
27. ObamaCare is just the latest in a very long series of Unconstitutional Federal over reaches never intended by our Founding Fathers.
28. Obamacare will speed the U.S. along the road to insolvency.
29. Obamacare also means that for up to 20 million Americans, they will lose the insurance they currently have, the insurance that they like and they want to keep
30. Obamacare is a job killer.
31. Obamacare will die at least one of three deaths: judicial, political or economic. If the Supreme Court allows this abomination to stand, voters can still deliver its death blow at the polls in November.
32. Obamacare sticks the states with a $50 billion additional copay on a vastly-expanded version of Medicaid—and threatens to withdraw every Medicaid dollar from a state if they refuse—while at the same time continuing to tax all the citizens of that state through their bi-weekly payroll taxes is an unconstitutional assault on the status of the states as sovereigns that are coequal with the federal government.
33. ObamaCare uses the Social Security language of the Internal Revenue Code to determine who is eligible for “religious conscience” objection to the insurance mandate.
34. ObamaCare is specifically written not to apply equally to everyone.
35. Obamacare is what happens when things like the commerce clause are allowed to be distorted. Like the right uses it to ban marijuana despite it should be a state issue and despite the Constitution having been amended (twice!) to ban alcohol.
36. Obamacare is yet another vehicle designed to TAKE our God given Freedom.
37. Obamacare has virtually no outlays in 2011, because the Medicaid expansion and subsidies don’t start up until 2014, which means the shifting time frame drops a year of no implementation and adds one of full implementation.
38. Obamacare promotes the emergence of Mega-Hospitals that would employ all physicians.
39. Obamacare addresses this obvious interstate problem in a direct way.
40. Obamacare has not created a net healthcare benefit, but rather simply reshuffled the burden.
41. Obamacare, on the other hand, is like a lifeguard issuing parking tickets.
42. Obamacare does not allow you to move to another state to avoid being told that you must purchase something, you are locked in at the federal level no matter where you live.
43. ObamaCare requires every American to purchase health insurance, it requires every state to establish health insurance exchanges, and it dramatically expands Medicaid. Each of these – private health insurances programs, exchanges, and Medicaid – can, and in some case are required to, provide coverage for abortion.
44. ObamaCare provides grants for establishing ” School-based Health Centers ,” which could be run by abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood. While the law prevents these clinics from being used to “provide” abortions, it encourages groups like Planned Parenthood to make abortion referrals.
45. If Obamacare actually offered consumers a free market choice of where to get services, it would be a lot more balanced and effective.
46. If Obamacare gets struck down and the Democrats aren’t prepared, Obama is going to be up a creek without a paddle.
47. If Obamacare falls — by court verdict or congressional fiat — that will not be a disaster.
48. If ObamaCare makes it through the gauntlet, it will prove to Americans that their government can assure a human right.
49. If Obamacare is overturned (this remains a big “if” despite funeral planning by various media personalities), then it will be because it was a dishonest plan from the very beginning.
50. If Obamacare is struck down on the grounds that no individual in the United States may be forced to purchase healthcare by any branch or level of government, then such a ruling will make Romneycare unconstitutional at the federal level.

“Obamacare and the EPA will together revoke and invalidate the US Constitution.”

    Really???

  2. Mel September 24, 2012

    @Mike…still have that question?!

  3. Allison October 13, 2012

yup, it breaks the 10th ammendment. the government has no right to tell the states or patients what treatments they can and cannot have.

  4. Dontae November 19, 2012

Not true. The tenth amendment states rights that were not stated in the constitution are reserved to the states and the people. It doesn’t state anything about medical policies specifically. And even if Romney did win, John Roberts (Chief Justice) wouldn’t have allowed it to be appealed. Hence, The AFFORDABLE Care Act stays in place.

  5. Suzy November 26, 2012

Does it break the ammendment or not?

  6. Charlie November 27, 2012

It doesnt break the tenth amendment The Tenth gives the states the power of nullification if the Feds get out of line….

  7. Mary February 11, 2013

And Obama has been out of line since he was elected the first time. Where are the states nullifying him as president?

  8. TZ February 15, 2013

Right! I had to read that about 4-5 times and it still completely baffles me.

  10. Melissa Richardson October 1, 2013

What is that makes Obama care be the best for the American people ,forcing people to get insurance that they can’t simply afford & living in poverty . Living paycheck to paycheck . Keep fighting it Republicians

  12. PoliSci October 2, 2013

“Obamacare is deeply unpopular because it is based on a bureaucratic, government-centered vision of American health care.” Really? Why don’t you come and just say you’re a conservative who writes extremely biased material in hopes to sway those to your views which are not based on fact or research, but your own narrow-minded opinion.

  13. Matthew Wnorowski October 7, 2013

How are the American People who are poor, supposed to pay for Obamacare if they’re living paycheck to paycheck. What about the Union, and other jobs? Many other businesses are relegating people to working part time, which is less than forty hours a week so that they do not have to provide insurance for emplyees. Why not make a law prohibiting employers from not giving them insurance just because they work under forty hours a week.

  14. Steve Ludwig October 14, 2013

First off, under the ACA part time is defined as 30 hours per week. Secondly, if your company employs less than 50 people they do not have to offer insurance. So many small businesses will not be changing the way they hire and work their employees. The downside to this if you wish to look at it that way is that these people will now have to buy insurance if their company does not offer it.
The plus is that if you are not making much money “living paycheck to paycheck” you will most likely be offered assistance for both paying your premiums and paying any co-pay or deductibles. In addition, you will receive free annual checkups and bloodwork. You will be able to have a primary phisician as opposed to going to the emergency room for every cold, flu bug or minor ailment. You will have someone who knows you and will recognize when you are sick. Long term this will result in a much healthier population.

  15. ryan October 26, 2013

my health is my own problem you people make me sick when does the government stop how long till they put something else out there that forces you to buy it no matter what you think our government is starting on the death spiral dont believe me look at the facts just one so you can see where it headed lower populations means hirer wages increases to the pop. means lower pay but thats not happening is it and the cost of everything just keeps going up

  16. Anonymous October 28, 2013

are u getting Medicaid? if u have medicines u need to take on a daily basis thand no job then that can help u but with Obama care you will be paying out the butt for your deductible ven if you get help with paying ure premium u will still have to pay some on that also so Obama care is a tax a quack a lie

  17. dave November 6, 2013

PolySci, Cool name, It means “I’m smarter than the rest of you, listen to me.
I’m Dave who lives in the real world, a small business owner who closed up shop when licensing and regulations fees kept going up for no reason than to feed GOV. who needed more of my “easy money” to spend on buying votes.

I’m a conservative who writes extremely biased material in hopes to sway those to your views which are not based on fact or research, but your own narrow-minded opinion.
It’s a redistribution scheme, “desinged” to take from the middle class and business’s to “subsidize” those who will not take care of themselves. It would be cheaper to “give” 20 to 30 million people health care and let the people keep they’re current healthcare than to let the Gov. mandate everyone purchase healthcare and take a “modest cut” (VIG) off the top to pay they’re cronies. (See: GOV BAILOUT, we got hosed the banks got rich). You see it time and again if you do the research on healthcare, hidden taxes, premiums going up 130- 198% for what?, things you don’t want or need? A “one size fits all aproach is not what healthcare needs. Oppening up insurance nationwide, allowing competition will bring costs down, open disclosure of costs will bring costs down, allowing consumers to make the choice, (bought a flat screen lately?) not a single payer “GOV.” plan. The GOV. doesn’t care, IT’S NOT THIER MONEY!!
The GOV. has already stolen your S.S. benifits with a promise to repay, yeah right. Now they want to charge you high premiums for healthcare and take “a little’ off the top, ya know, for expenses,(see above, cronies,) and waste that. You want GOV. healthcare, think DMV, think USPS, think VA, does it get any better. And thats just the TIP of the iceburg.

How about this, claim three dependants and “they” can’t take the “fine” out of your tax return but here’s some news of intrest. http://www.libertynews.com/2013/10/obamacare-follow-up-will-your-bank-about-be-cleaned-out-a-lien-placed-on-your-home-and-your-drivers-license-suspended-if-you-opt-out-of-obamacare-and-dont-pay-penalty/
The gift that keeps on givin’.

  18. dave November 6, 2013

So we all should pay your phone bill and cable bill also?, after all those are human rights right? You may have to take a job that is “beneath” your level of comfort, that IS Obamas fault, he has restricted job growth in this country, you said it yourself “he’s been in office 6 years” suddenly?. Six years and nothing has changed? It’s o.k. your frustration should be focused on GOV. in general, not Dem. or Rep. How long has either party said “taxes are too high”, or “the national debt is too high, unemployment etc. but nothing changes. 40 years I been counting, nothing. You’re frustrated I know. Get involved, look at who you are voting for. I say 20+ years as a politition= WAY TOO LONG, these jokers are playing the system and do not have the American intrest at heart, Vote out all the rascals, time for some new blood that has the American peoples best intrests at heart.

  19. marilyn November 6, 2013

IF YOU ARE A TRUE AMERICAN & BELIEVE IN THE CONSTITUTION AND YOUR RIGHTS THEN WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT SIGN UP FOR “OBAMA CARE” !!

  20. the fox November 10, 2013

wow Ryan.. in which school did you learn English???? Your health is your problem until you are sick and then you will show up at the Emergency and the taxpayers have to foot the bill….

  21. norman November 16, 2013

obamas big problem is still people that are between 21 and 35 don tfeel they need insurance so they will pay the penalty, so the rates for the insurance will be high, and the demmy dummies will suffer most in the 2014 elections

  22. Stan June 4, 2014

You really don’t know what you are talking about. I used to be a Republican until you Tea Party douches ran the party into the ground with your misinformation and obstructionist politics.

Every other “Fact” above is completely baseless, and the ones that are true are twisted mightily.

I encourage everyone to do independent research. This guy writing this site is a complete clown, and a puppet.
